Buss, Cahill, and Co. won their first round game in the WNIT tonight, 74-50 over UT Martin. They're up again on Sunday at 2 PM in Assembly Hall.
The Hayes family will be heading down for the game. Let us know if anyone wants to join. If nothing else, it's a rare opportunity to sit in the seats you didn't think you were ever allowed to sit in at Assembly Hall for a game.

75% of the Sandricks will be there - Milwaukee was 20-11, however, they only won 5 of their last 10 games, whereas IU won 8 of their last 10, and they do not have Tyra Buss. What's crazy is that she only had 14 points, and some freshman scored 25. I'm guessing Tyra lights it up Sunday. Winner faces the survivor of Purdue-Ball St.

Winner faces the survivor of Purdue-Ball St. Look for us in the usual spot under the banners. Some freshman = Jaelyn Penn, the first 5-star recruit of Moren's reign. She spent most of the first half of the season looking like a deer in the headlights. At some point the light came on and she's been a force on both ends of the floor. Look for her finish high on the all-time scoring list when all is said and done. FWIW, IU has another 5-star coming next year who was an AAU teammate of Penn's. She has potential to be Tyra 2.0, but taller ... and with a better outside shot.

Let me guess - you got main level seats for a dollar each plus a non perishable food item?

Let me guess - you got main level seats for a dollar each plus a non perishable food item? $6, along with 3000 others who support anyone good enough to put on cream and crimson and compete. Now that I think about it, it's just about how many show up for a Tuesday night game when the men play. IU women play Purdue on Thursday to go to the elite 8. I assume Spike will be beating off to Romeo Langford highlights while he prays to a red sweater.

You know the Indiana University futbol team that made it to a National Championship game?

You know the Indiana University futbol team that made it to a National Championship game? Yep - paid my $9.99 a month to watch as many games as I could on BTNPlus. But that overlaps with football season and we're already going to Bton 7 weekends for that, so making the trip to see home games ain't in the cards. How many games did you see in person in the 812, Stew?

I wanted to get to either the game at the Butler Bowl or the Grand Park games, but was constantly overbooked when they were happening. Next season... I don't follow recruiting there. Do they have anything on roster or coming in to backfill for Lillard and Toye?

Did anyone dunk in the IU/UT Martin game? Did anyone not shoot a set shot from 3? And whats with the little basketball(28.5)?? I can hit from 30 with that ball (and Commish knows I can score the rock). The only time I ever remember seeing less than double the attendance that you spoke of for the womens NIT game at a IU mens game was the Bracey Wright/ Mike Davis NIT loss to Vanderbilt/Georgia Tech/Wake Forest/ whoever, so that post was totally inaccurate.
The overarching fact above your defensive pissiness about going to a womens game is this (and get ready, because it aint PC). People in American society care more about men's sports than women's sports. People in American place more value and emphasis on mens sports. Which means in turn that men's sports, due to the market forces I have described, are more important to people than womens sports. Many facts back this up - I will give you one. The most watched NCAA championship game in history was Duke Wisconsin 2015. Nearly an 18 overnight Nielsen rating. A few days later the women played their championship game. Nielsen rating - less than 1. So, 18 times more people watched the mens championship than the womens championship. My guess on why?? Without getting into factual specifics, the womens game is played below the rim...I'll leave it at that. Everybody knows that facts of that matter.
And please do not start in on the "opportunity" or "equality" bullshit. Every 7 or 8 year old girl in the country has the exact same opportunity to play basketball as a 7-8 year old boy does, period. And has for the past 30+ years. Sad that many in this camp don't really want equality of opportunity - they want equality of outcome, and would prefer to get it through legislation or speech control than through how everything else works in a free society - the marketplace. No matter how many Nike and Adidas commercials are out there, and no matter who tries to control our speech and our views, the market simply does not support equality of outcome for mens and womens sports.
But have fun at the next game!!!

So what you're saying, Spike, is you only like basketball players with penises. Got it.

If all we're really concerned about is quality of basketball and the size of penises, why in the world are you even watching the NCAA at all? You could even tune into the Knicks/Bulls tank fest tonight and see better shooting and bigger penises than anything we saw this weekend. Speaking of which, will Korynet.com be running an NBA playoffs pool?!?

No, I like players that can play the game at the absolute highest level that it can be played at, you fucking morons. The free market supports that, and the public supports that (tv ratings) . Feel free to watch and attend any basketball you bitches want - but everyone really knows what the superior product is. and Fuck Purdue

Oh boy...
If an IU womens sports team is playing a - lets say Purdue - womens sports team then I want IU to come out on top of course. The point was that it is not PC to discuss the truth about the difference between mens and womens basketball. I don't care about PC, so I can say it.
I am currently watching Penn State play Marquette in the NIT. The game is being played at Marquette's "womens arena" capacity 3700 (less than my high school gym). For a guy like me, this brings to light two puzzling issues. First, why does Marquette have a "womens basketball arena" to begin with ? College costs are astronomical and rising every year(44K a year for me) so it sure seems like one arena would do - but then the Title Niners I guess would say that is "unfair" or something innocuous and unmeasurable like that. Next, If the women's game is so great, why don't the Marquette women just play at the Bradley Center like the men do? Because no one shows up, which makes the whole thing not feasible from an economic standpoint. Why does no one show? Everyone knows the answer to that.
