Why would it be locked now? End of tournament of official announcement by IU right? Yep. This is Clue, people. Do your research and bet your findings. Is it Professor Plum in the Study with the Candlestick? Or Fred Glass in the Hall with a strap on?

Sat in on a 2 hour chat on Peegs last night. Here are the latest rumblings (not much earth shattering) ...
- Alford, Donovan, Bennett emerging as leading candidates at least as far as what boosters, BoT, etc. advocating - Two admins are basically running all search activity in the AD office. One is Glass. The other is an associate AD who was Alford's college roommate. - Bennett has indicated to someone he's interested in hearing about the job. No issue with the whole "YOU FIRED MY SISTER" thing. - No one with NBA ties thinks Donovan is interested in the job. There are still voices in Bloomington pushing for him. There's some evidence that Donovan was highly burned out on recruiting by end of FLA stint and may not want to return to that activity. - Alford has fans among some boosters, BoT, and ex-players. Same with Dane Fife. - There's no smoke around Gregg Marshall's name right now. Apparently someone inside the dept. noted "We just finished with one difficult personality. We don't want another right away." - All in the know seem convinced Archie Miller would jump on the opportunity if presented, but right now he hasn't seemed to crack the top 5 candidates - First talk I've seen of Chris Collins. Apparently there's some word he's open to hearing from IU. No idea if the feeling is mutual. - Likely Woodson will get a courtesy interview - Pegram seems to want to talk about no one but Bennett, FWIW
All that said, the guys reporting this stuff noted they pulled Sampson off their hot board 6 hours before he was hired and didn't have Crean on their hot board before he was hired. So take it all with as many grains of salt as you wish and bid accordingly.

Hmmm, interesting. PEEGS clearly wants Indiana to get Bennett...wonder what the connection there is. Better look into that.
Ok, so for those of you who don't know me and my connection, ask around. Im not going to say it directly here. Also anyone who knows me can ask me directly where I am getting so.merging.
But let's first keep in mind Glass is on lockdown. Any info that is out there is not coming from him...or Indiana. It all comes from other cosches, their camps, friends, associates, etc.
Bennett is very interested in the IU job, But he's not at the top of Indianas list.
Alford is very, very interested in the IU job, and not as a negotiating tool with UCLA, Indiana is mutually interested in him as well.
IU has reached out to Donovan, he reciprocated interst, but it's unclear where things are at with him at this point.
As I alluded to in another thread IU has no interest in Gregg Marshall.
Those are all facts as of Sunday night.
Interestingly this is the same time IU announced they are using a search firm now in this effort as well. My speculation with some validation this is to vet one or two candidates and at the time negotiate agreeable terms with a final candidate.
Seemingly the longer this goes without being announced the more likely it is that the final selection will be someone elther from the NBA or still in NCAA tournament.
IU has also reveled inquiries from Fife, Wittman, Tonagel, And Fred Hoiberg. No idea if they were granted an ear or anyone else that may have seriously inquired or Indiana looked into.
Many feel Quinn Buckner has McRobbies ear on this whole thing and he is the one working with Glass on what will ultimately happen. What that means for the reflective candidates is unknown.

I added a couple names that have popped up recently. Long shots, but they have been mentioned by people supposedly in the know.

Stop reading Peegs and adding names....
For those not paying attention, Virginia has lost three grad transfers in two days.

There are no insider-trading rules here. Are you also hearing the whole thing about Matt Painter leaving Purdue to coach IU and Gene Keady will be his lead assistant? No, I'm not putting any money on anyone. That wouldn't be fair. And as far as pork chop goes, that'll get quashed when he gets rolled by Kansas this weekend. As I said...see ya Pork Chop!

Question, do we get Larry Brown with the Mike Woodson pick -asking for a friend. Oh and I will go to $3 on Billy Donovan for the [cock]block.

I want my $12 dollars. Sources close to Indiana and Allen David Federman leaked the information to Woj concerning his payout to this game of pick em and "I want my 12 dollars", Mr. Federman said as he whipped a freshly printed Gazette onto the front lawn of Alford's old Indiana home.

I'm looking forward to running this contest again in three years when IU boosters run Archie out of town.

They waited nine years to go Creaning. Give em a break. Personally, love love love this hire. Just about the best coach Dayton has ever had by win percentage, his defenses rocked, his offenses have always seemed solid and I like the fact that he is young enough to fight Steve if the poolbully gets in his face.

I think he looks just like a more fit Bobby Moynihan and seriously, I think he was the best that we could get and I look forward to giving him the chance to prove himself in the big ten and the tourney. Let's hope the administration gets entirely behind him, sounds like our beloved institution has some issues that need addressing.
