It's not about WHO, it's about WHAT. Glass clearly (at least with his insanely well-used verbiage here ... AND with his #GetTheFuckOutKevinWilson Oscar-winning screenplay a few months back) has the pulse of a program that other states and generations could only hope to begin to understand. Perhaps if you had been on campus when IU actually won titles, you would better comprehend. :-)
(Although #ArchieArch did A SHITLOAD more at fucking DAYTON than Clappy did with anyone not named D-Wade, OMFG.)
Plus Glass wasn't the AD when Crean was hired. That was that fat Army asshole.
Finally, fuck Billy Donovan. Why would he be considered a serious candidate for one second? He played at Providence (SEE same fucking Final Four as when IU last won; mentioned above), coached for freaking back-to-back titles at Florida with Horfords and Brewers and Noahs and Speightses, then moved on to coach Kevin Fucking Durant and Russell Fucking Westbrook in the pros. Why would he want to go to B-town?

No need to pull out my Texas Tech gear, PoolBullyBitch, just the IU gear will do nicely. The gear I wore when we were a national powerhouse program. The gear I wore when we won 3 national titles, 2 of them with players from Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio only (imagine telling your boy Archie Miller that he could only recruit 3 states - he would probably start crying). The gear I wore when NO ONE could win at Assembly Hall (from 76-95 we were 237-36). The gear I wore when IU was the last undefeated national champion - not Kentucky not Kansas and not gay assed BUTLER...US! The gear I wore in 2002 when that clown Davis fronted while Knights players - a team he built that he knew had a chance to win the title that year Jeffries, Newton, Coverdale, Hornsby, Leach, Moye, COACH FIFE, etc.
The problem with the Coach Knight hate fest is that you fucking tweakers have settled for being a substandard bottom dwelling bullshit program - and the leaders at IU have settled for that as well.
A return to national prominence for IU?? I fucking doubt it.

Other than I can make no sense out of the previous two posts, I have come to the conclusion neither of you know anything about Archie Miller.
For Sean what exactly is Archie Miller's connection to Indiana again?
And for Spike....do you realize that Dayton's current roster includes 3 players from Illinois and 7 from Ohio. Since your math is lacking, that is a total of 10 out of 18. And....he was the lead recruiter at WKU when he was there (Remember Courtney Lee, from Indianapolis Pike, yea he receruited him) as well as for his brother at Arizona and Mahta at Ohio State before he got the Dayton gig....interestingly where in six years he has an elite eight and 4 NCAA appearances.
I just don't understand what you want besides an "Indiana Guy" or an elite coach (only one of which was available).

my 2 cents? a) Archie Miller is a good hire. b) old IU fans with banner chants and nostalgia driven tales of glory are great - but also perhaps part of the problem? yes we should expect no less than basketball dominance. Here's our chance. Here's our chance to unite old and new - under 1 glorious cream and crimson banner. To return IU to it's past glory and a future new story. Wins are the key, all that other shit is -well. Shit. (and not cheating etc) but wins will heal all that other shit and time should take care of the rest. Lastly, let's not forget, RMK was MY coach too. I'm not a hater and I don't think anyone here is (mostly grad class '92 ) What bugs me at times is when my fellow alumni of previous years (fellow alumni same college, mostly same - 4ish year stints right? ) drop the "I was there" card. That's cool. It is. I love the stories. Let's just not lose sight of prize. The prize is to return to our rightful place of dominance in an evermore competitive league drastically different then it was 20 years ago. That is the prize, and if we all can get behind the best available coach (arguably but many say so) - our coach - MY NEW Coach - coach Miller... that is what we have to do. Lastly, if old players or fans don't come to games around this coach - our coach, THEE head coach of the Indiana Hoosiers, then screw them. I think we revoke their membership. That's not support, that stubborn stupidity and ego. Go Hoosiers. Fuck Purdue.

I've settled on the fact that a strong portion of the IU fan base, you being a prime example, will always be grumpy because Papa Knight ain't there. IU could win four titles in a row and a bunch of old bastards will always think it's not good enough because the shorts are too long or the sideburns aren't long enough or chairs aren't being thrown the proper distance. And when IU is stumbling, I derive joy over the collected meltdown of that portion of the fan base. |

From what I was understanding, Miller likes to sometimes run a full court press and trap at times. Can't say I can remember the last time I saw the Hoosiers running those items, so "if" they could do some stuff like that, it could be fun basketball to watch.
Miller will either win or he will be gone, I doubt he will be given 9 years to prove himself.
Outside those 70s teams and a couple years here or there, most of the time Knight won with really lesser players than other big teams. They often won with lesser players because they played defense, which is something IU hasn't done in years and to me was the maddening part of watching Crean's clubs play.
